We can’t achieve Net Zero without the whole business and every one of our employees helping out. We have a network of Do The Right Thing Champions within our business who (among other things) help monitor energy usage in restaurants. With these Champions in place and us buying green electricity and gas in England, Scotland and Wales, it ensures that our restaurants are almost carbon neutral in their own right. We’ve also launched an internal campaign to reduce our food waste and increase recycling within our restaurants.
We make sure to gather feedback from our restaurant teams to pass on to suppliers and help make improvements on food waste and recycling this way too. By doing this, we’re able to save the embodied carbon within food waste which is better for the planet. We’re also planting 16,000 trees (one for every employee) with Trees for Cities and making sure everyone across our business is involved in raising awareness of the climate crisis.
